Hong Kong International - Young Readers Festival 2015

The Hong Kong International Young Readers Festival 2016 is back!

The 2016 Hong Kong International Young Readers Festival is packed with exciting events and you’re invited!

Meet mermaids and dragons, explore strange worlds and journey with us to India and America’s Deep South. Engaging author talks will capture young minds of all ages, whilst interactive workshops offer audiences the chance to try their hand at creative writing and illustrating.

The Festival will run from March 7 to 18, with a weekend of insightful talks and interactive workshops scheduled for March 12 and 13. We look forward to hosting events in two new Festival venues this year: Comix Home Base in Wan Chai and GROWHOUSE in Central. Schools Programme

Participating authors will be paying visits to primary and secondary schools across Hong Kong throughout the Festival period, offering talks and workshops to students as part of our Schools Programme. Some people don’t know that the Festival organizes school visits in addition to our public events on the weekend. If you’d like to learn more about our Schools Programme, click here. If you’re a teacher or school administrator and would like to receive the details of our 2016 schools programme, sign up for our schools-only email list here. Subsidies are available for government and aided schools.

We are also delighted to invite schools to enter our creative writing competition, Create 2016.

create2016_createdtemp Create 2016 is a writing competition designed to encourage and stimulate creativity, improve English language skills and inspire students to become readers and writers. It aims to help children in Hong Kong engage creatively with authors and their books in a meaningful, long-term, and fruitful way. Winners will receive books and free tickets to Festival events. If you’d like more information on Create 2016, please send an email to create@youngreadersfestival.org.hk.
